OPERATING NOISE

All 50Hz fluorescent luminaires emit an operating noise which may be noticeable in situations where the ambient noise level is low, or if the luminaires are attached to resonant structures.

Trials should be made before installing the less expensive luminaires in acoustically sensitive situations. Normally the shorter the luminaire, the lower the operating noise. High frequency control gear reduces the noise below the human audible limit.
