Cost effective and flexible lighting control for office applications giving speed of installation, energy saving, flexible control and maximum end-user comfort and security.

This shows a typical installation in a modern office building. Dimmable lighting is used in all the office areas, and for maximum energy efficiency sensors are being used not only to switch the lighting on and off but also to regulate its output to make maximum use of the available natural light.

The corridor lighting is linked to the offices, so that if anyone is working late their adjacent corridor is kept lit.

The toilets use standard mains sensors for on/off control, but the lighting in the stairwell and lift lobby are controlled with a microwave sensor due to their generous size.

Exterior amenity lighting and the lighting on the corporate sign are controlled by a sensor mounted inside the building, but which senses the external light level.

Applications

OFFICES

Even in higher specification offices, speed and economy of installation are essential, and the Exodus marshalling boxes with modular wiring provide this. The first fix/second fix concept minimises the use of skilled labour. First fix requires an electrician, second fix does not.

If corridor linking is required we recommend the use of marshalling box E016604.

If dimmable lighting is used then sensors should be used that deliver a DSI control signal. E016468 provides this, and connects directly to the marshalling box.

CIRCULATION AREAS

In lift lobbies, stairwells and reception areas passive infra-red sensors may not give the coverage required. The E016496 is a micro-wave sensor ideally suited to these areas. It switches lights on when movement is detected while the ambient light-level is below a given threshold, and then adjusts the lighting with a DSI control signal to maintain an appropriate level.

AMENITY AND SIGNAGE LIGHTING

This lighting needs to be switched on as dusk approaches, and off again either after a pre-set time, or at dawn (as determined by increasing light levels). The E016498 does this, and can be located safely inside the building, but with its adjustable sensor head facing a window so it is sensing the outside light-level and can detect dusk and dawn.

Below are some examples of where Exodus wire-free controls could be used. Refer to the diagram above.

LUMINAIRE CODE.../ DTD

LUMINAIRES WITH DSI CONTROL GEAR
Exodus marshalling Boxes E016603 and E016604 can support fixed output or dimmable lighting. If dimmable lighting is required this must be ordered as Luminaire code.../DTD. We will assemble the fittings wired for dimming with a DSI control signal.

If used with fixed output lighting the correct sensor to use will be E016467.

If used with .../DTD fittings the correct sensor to use will be E016468.

E016476

SENSOR, 230V PIR & PE CELL
PIR occupancy sensor with switched live output and adjustable light-level threshold and time-delay before switch off. Ideal for toilets and circulation areas, and anywhere a marshalling box is not being used.

E016468

SENSOR, 24V PIR & PE CELL WITH DSI
PIR occupancy sensor and photocell, pre-wired to plug directly into the marshalling box. The light-level threshold and time-delay before switch-off are both adjustable and the sensor generates a digital control signal (DSI) to dim the lighting when there is sufficient natural light available.

E016498

SENSOR, 230V PE CELL WITH TIMED OFF
This is located in the reception area, but with its adjustable sensor-head it is monitoring the external light level. As darkness approaches it switched the external lighting on, and switches them off automatically later in the night or at dawn.

E016496

SENSOR, 230V MICRO-WAVE PIR & PE CELL 30M WITH DSI
Micro-wave occupancy sensor and photocell with 30m range, ideal for use in long corridors and large reception areas where the area to be covered is too great for a PIR device. The light-level threshold and time-delay before switch-off are both adjustable and this sensor generates a digital control signal (DSI) to dim the lighting when there is sufficient natural light available.

E01660

MARSHALLING BOX 9-WAY
A flexible marshalling box with corridor linking. 9-ways, 2 lighting groups & 4 sensor ports. Fast to install with minimum skilled labour.
